The tears in her eyes

A piercing silence
tears the tranquil of life and
shatters mute souls,as
an innocent gets killed for
temporary amusement.

She lays lifeless down,
her blood flows incessantly.
She’s mourning as tears
flow from her eyes; as if they
ask the reason for her fault.

Her kids rub their nose
against her; surrounding her,
whispering their cries.
Afraid and unaware of
the injustice that happened.

Her dead eyes depict-
her happy family ruined,
her kids turned orphan.
Can we ever empathize
for the sad tears in her eyes?

Author Note: This poem speaks about hunting of animals. It speaks about how innocent animals get killed for fruitless hobby, silently breaking and taking away lives. We don’t ever realize what their lives are and how important they might be to their family. This poem is written in Tanka poetry form. Tanka is a thirty-one-syllable poem, traditionally written in a single unbroken line. A form of waka, Japanese song or verse, tanka translates as “short song,” and is better known in its five-line, 5/7/5/7/7 syllable count form. This is a chained Tanka and only uses the syllable count as specified by the Tanka Poetry form.
