You love them, you hate them but you can’t ignore them. The rains are here. The first monsoon showers are a relief after the sultry summer. It not only regenerates the city but also bring along water logged roads, dirty feet and mud splashed clothes.
It can be quite a task to look and stay effortlessly stylish in this monsoon season. So put on your most fashionable foot forward with these tips as the gray and gloomy days are here to stay.
-
SHIRTS AND T-SHIRTS
Let’s begin with shirts and t-shirts. Opt for nice, comfortable, thin but good quality fabrics. Make sure you go for fabrics that dry quickly in this weather, that doesn’t cling to your body and avoids transparency. Wear fabrics such as polyester, lycra, cotton, mul, light weight silks and Terri wool.
The monsoon brings along with it monochrome and gloomy shades. Counter it with vibrant colors. Add a layer or two for a cool and breezy look. Pair your plain Tees with a printed or checkered shirt. Incorporate lively and quirky prints to enhance your looks. Avoid whites and pastels as the water and mud blotches will be evident.
-
SHORTS ALL THE WAY
Get leggy this season and flaunt your legs boys!
Ideally, shorts and chinos work best for this season. Add a dash of color by sporting vibrant chinos and printed shorts with plain tees. If wearing trousers go for the darker shades such as gray, dark blue and brown to hide the water and mud blotches.
It is advisable to avoid denim. Those inseparable from their denim keep it simple with a pair of sneakers with the denim rolled at the hemline.
-
COATS AND JACKETS
This is the best time to experiment with your jackets and pair them up with shirts for a variety of looks. The classic trench coat look is the best option; it’s waterproof and will compliment any sort of formal or semi-formal attire.
You can easily find such coats in the online store like Myntra which has a variety of trending options. Avail these apparels with additional discounts by combining them with myntra coupons and offers.
-
SHOES
Many advocates to wearing flip flops. Flip flops, canvas and leather shoes should be avoided at all costs. Any contact of water with leather creates fungus in them. Flip flops increase the chances of mud splatter on your legs.
So unless you don’t mind going around with dollops of mud spots on your back and legs, opt for closed shoes, crocs, sandals, gumboots, rubber soled penny loafers or even good fitting floaters. Make sure your shoes or sandals provide a sturdy grip. For a more casual look, you can opt for sneakers and sports shoes even.

ACCESSORIES
NO! Accessories are not only meant for women. Men should accessorize too. With the right accessories, it can enhance your look to a whole different level. Invest in quirky cuff links to up the quotient of your look. Accessories like bags in water resilient materials are life savers.
Opt for quirky backpacks or duffle bags that will help keep your belongings safe. Men can try various hats too. A fedora hat along with a trench coat will give you the classic look. In case you prefer umbrellas go for checkered patterns and umbrellas that look more masculine.
Now go and splash around in style!

I don’t think we might find many men wearing gumboots in our country. Guess the style doesn’t appeal to them as much.
