This week’s #The100DeedsOfChangeDrive article is authored by me, Amreen Shaikh and it speaks of how we can support and inspire minds by standing for their cause.
Nutrition for Education

There are many smiles you can live
by bringing a smile on someone else’s face.
Indeed, happiness is not just a matter of self, but society. Shouldn’t we be thankful to God for giving us sweet water to drink, healthy food to eat, parents to look after, friends to share our secrets with, siblings to have fun with? We must! Yet, we crib and disregard our lives, and even resort to various untoward things, thereby destroying ourselves.
Amidst all these, there are young and lively orphans, who are poor, don’t have proper access to full nutrition, no basic amenities, yet, they want to progress and educate themselves to conquer their dreams and become great individuals.
But we can help them! Yes, our little support and care, can better the lives of such orphans, who wish to study, who wish to become better.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation is helping over 1.4 million children receive education and come closer to achieving their dreams. Its mid-day meal programme provides children with one nutritious, filling meal every day, a strong reason to attend class when many children don’t have access to a single meal a day. The meals also have a positive impact on the children’s performance in school by helping to improve daily attendance, retention and concentration in class. Understanding this relation between education and hunger has helped Akshaya Patra’s mid-day meal programme succeed.
